Application:
Sodium superoxide, inorganic compound, chemical formula NaO2. It is a light yellow (or orange yellow) solid containing superoxide ion O2 -. Sodium superoxide is the crystal structure of table salt and can be prepared by reacting sodium peroxide with oxygen under pressure. The superoxide ion in sodium superoxide has a single electron on the anti bond orbital, which is unstable and paramagnetic. It reacts rapidly with water to produce hydrogen peroxide, sodium hydroxide and oxygen.
